This lovingly restored property located in the Lake District National Park is just 1 mile from the village of Ennerdale Bridge where you will find a couple of friendly local pubs and a café. Ennerdale Water is the most westerly lake (5 miles) even in high season, this is a great place to escape, with crystal clear water and pretty forest walks. The coastal town of St Bees is 7 miles away, enjoy a walk along the promenade or surfing and kite surfing on the gently shelving surf beach. Whinlatter is 17 miles away, here you will find Go Ape and some amazing bike tracks. For the more seasoned walkers take on Catbells (26 miles) or Kinniside Stone Circle (1.5 miles) where, on a clear day, you can see Scotland and the Isle of Man. As you enter the property into the hallway, you will find a twin and double bedroom along with a family bathroom offering a separate shower, shower over the bath and WC. On arrival, open the five bar gate (please close behind you), and drive up to the parking area near your holiday cottage. Step inside to find bright and airy country style interiors with cheery pops of pattern and colour. Sink into cosy seating and relax by the warm open fire in the living room after a walk on the fells. Rustle up delicious meals in the open plan kitchen and dining area where you ll find everything you need including a range cooker with a gas hob, two electric ovens, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, and a handy washing machine. Gather around the large dining table and feast together as you make plans for a new day of adventures in Cumbria. After dinner, retreat to the living room and enjoy film and games nights with the TV and DVD player; there s also an iPhone/iPod dock. When sleep calls, head up the short staircase from the living room where you ll find a cosy twin bedroom, a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, and garden access. Located in the countryside on a working farm, just eight miles from the Border City of Carlisle. Offering the ideal base to explore the Cumbrian coast, Scotland (under 20 miles) and the Lake District National Park (6 miles). There are lots of bike routes and walks available from your front door and plenty to do in the local area. Visit Carlisle Castle (7 miles), Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery (7 miles) or the Solway Aviation Museum (17 miles). Carlisle station (8 miles) offers a regular train service to both Edinburgh and Glasgow or travel less than 20 miles and you will find yourself in the famous Scottish town of Gretna Green, where you can visit the wedding anvil or enjoy a day shopping at the outlet village. The pretty village of Edenhall is less than 4 miles from the market town of Penrith, here you will find a great selection of independent shops and restaurants, as well as a train station with a direct service into Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Lake District. The village itself has a country pub serving food and local beer just 350 yards away. Located between the Pennines and the Lake District National Park. Visit Pooley Bridge, which is under 10 miles away, you can take a boat to Howtown where you can walk to Glenridding and catch the boat back to Pooley Bridge. This was one of Wordsworth's favourite walks and offers views of Ullswater and Helvellyn. There are also lovely walks from your front door and lots of opportunities to go cycling along quiet country roads. Located in a pretty courtyard, under a stone archway you will find the property entrance.
