BERRINGTON BEACH HUT - 4 miles from beach, 7.5 miles to Berwick, sleeps 2+2 4

Berwick-upon-Tweed, Scottish Borders, Scotland

BERRINGTON BEACH HUT - 4 miles from beach, 7.5 miles to Berwick, sleeps 2+2 From £1078 Availability

An eccentric hut that oozes beach bum charm and is just minutes from the sandy expanses of Northumberland’s Heritage Coast.

From vintage waterskis mounted on the bedroom wall to a driftwood mobile in the bathroom, and evocative deckchair striped fabric curtains framing the living room, the Beach Hut is pure beach charm. Built from larch wood to resemble a trio of adjoining beach huts, with expansive private timber deck, the property delivers all the fun of hut living while adding space, comfort and mod-cons.

The Beach Hut enjoys a tranquil, rural setting in a paddock encompassed by a 1,000-acre working farm. The steading is located just four miles from Cheswick Sands, one of Northumberland’s most impressive beaches with vast swathes of dune-backed sand and panoramic views to Holy Island of Lindisfarne, itself only 8.5 miles away. When you’re not out exploring the local beaches and sights, you can settle into the hammock, placed temptingly in the Beach Hut’s front garden, cosy up around the fire pit and linger over extended meals on the sun-drenched timber deck.

A pair of doors lead from the deck into a whimsical living area which radiates beach bum charm with its blue-washed timber panels and enamelware colander lamp shade. There’s a compact kitchen, rustic wooden dining table and pair of comfy chairs to relax in and contemplate the ‘real flame effect’ tubular heater stove. Leading off to one side is the master bedroom, a fun and light-filled room whose timber panelled walls are partially painted to match the deckchair striped headboard. Subtle strip lighting, concealed by a slim picture rail, throws light upwards to the pitched roof, giving an unexpected sense of height, while the window facing the bed calls out for lazy breakfasts in bed watching the countryside wake up.

A bathroom with electric shower, basin and WC leads off to the other side of the living area while a mezzanine floor, accessed by a Companionway ladder, features two 3’ twin beds snuggled beneath the blue and white painted pitched roof. Ideal for older children comfortable with climbing ladders, this floor is also accessible via an external set of steps.

Guests can also hire Colin, a retro caravan at £20 per night (subject to availability) where younger members of the family can have their own little mini adventure - a fun den for day use, it can also be set up for sleeping overnight.

Two dogs are welcome and there are kennels on site if required. Horses are welcome with prior notice. There is grazing and stabling available on site at additional cost.

The Beach Hut sits alongside three shepherd's huts, Foxglove, Teasel and Cow Parsley each sleeping up to four guests which are ideal for guests who wish to holiday together. Foxglove is also adapted for guests who are mobility impaired.
