The estuary offers excellent facilities for sailing and water-skiing, there being a public slipway. There is a superb sandy beach with sand dunes which is ideal for children, behind which there is a well-known golf course. It is possible to hire sailing boats, canoes, SUPs and to go on fishing trips. Windsurfing is now a very popular sport in the estuary and boards can also be hired. Kite surfing is also popular and local tuition is available. There are two public tennis courts, a pitch and putt and a bowling green.

The surrounding area provides plenty of entertainment for children on bad days. At Tywyn, just five miles away, there is an indoor swimming pool, squash courts, playground, cinema and the well-known Tal-y-llyn narrow gauge steam railway.
