Aberdovey, which is in the Snowdonia National Park, is a village of great character and charm, located at the mouth of the River Dovey. It is unspoilt and the small amount of development that has taken place in recent years has been carried out at the rear of the village thus not disturbing the sea front and shopping area.
The estuary offers excellent facilities for sailing and water-skiing, there being a public slipway. There is a superb sandy beach with sand dunes which is ideal for children, behind which there is a well-known golf course. It is possible to hire sailing boats, canoes, SUPs and to go on fishing trips. Windsurfing is now a very popular sport in the estuary and boards can also be hired. Kite surfing is also popular and local tuition is available. There are two public tennis courts, a pitch and putt and a bowling green.
The surrounding area provides plenty of entertainment for children on bad days. At Tywyn, just five miles away, there is an indoor swimming pool, squash courts, playground, cinema and the well-known Tal-y-llyn narrow gauge steam railway. The countryside around Aberdovey is reputed for some of its beautiful walks, Happy Valley being just to the rear of the chalet site. the famous Cadir Idris mountain is 40 minutes drive away.
The chalet is on a small exclusive site immediately at the rear of Aberdovey being some two-thirds of a mile from the village centre. It is on high ground and each chalet enjoys unrivalled views over the Dovey Estuary and South Wales. On a clear day you can see both the Northern and Southern tips of Cardigan Bay. The site is surrounded by fields and open countryside and could not be more safe for children.
It is a Norwegian pine bungalow, being finished to an extremely high standard with double-skin walls, floor and roof and double-glazing. Thus it is warm and cosy on a wet and windy day and cool on a hot day. The accommodation is as follows:-
Living/Dining room - this is a particularly attractive feature of the chalet as it is south-facing with picture windows all round and it enjoys fabulous views. Leading off is a large balcony which can be used for eating out. One corner of the room is used as a dining area with a large pine refectory table that will easily seat eight people. At night, the seats pull out and converts into a 4’6” double bed. The whole room is tastefully furnished in pine and bright colours. There is a colour television and a digital satellite dish in place, but tenants need to bring their own black box and viewing card.
Kitchen area - another corner of the living room is separated off to form a compact but practical kitchen incorporating a fridge, dishwasher, small microwave oven, electric cooker and masses of cupboards. It is fully equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, glass and cutlery for eight people.
Bedroom No. 1 - double bed with duvet, fitted cupboards. (Double blankets are available if required; they are stored under the dining-area sofa unit)
Bedroom No. 2 - double bed with good headroom plus full-length single bunk bed above also with good headroom, duvets, chest of drawers and hanging space. There is a cot provided (that would need assembling), along with an Ikea infants high chair.
Bedroom No. 3 - full-length bunk beds with good headroom, duvets, fitted cupboards.

Experience life 'off-grid' glamping!
Ty Crwn Mawr is a very comfortable yurt with spectacular views which can easily accommodate seven people. It has a king size bed and six single futon beds which double up as chairs/sofas. It is beautifully furnished with lovely linens, wall hangings, rugs and fairy lights creating a warm and magical space.
Right next to the yurt is a small shed containing a compost toilet and hot shower, with a small covered kitchenette (with gas hob, sink and hot tap) attached to it.
There is a secluded seating area and fire pit/BBQ to the south of the yurt. Cast iron cookware for the fire pit is provided.
There is a wood burning stove in the yurt which heats up the space very quickly. A basket of logs, some firelighters and kindling are provided. Further logs are available on request for £5 a basket. Firelighters and kindling are also available.
All pots/pans, crockery and cutlery, mugs and glasses are provided. We simply ask that you wash them before you leave and after each meal if other guests are in the smaller yurt. Dishclothes, tea towels, hand towels are provided. Bath/shower Towels are not provided. Please bring your own with you. Bedsheets, duvets and pillows are provided but feel free to bring extra with you.
The yurt is light and airy with a clear round window in the roof and a north facing door to help keep things cool on sunny days and hot summer nights. The floor and walls are insulated so it's toasty even in the coldest of winters.
Our other smaller yurt is situated about 30m away but screened by trees/bushes and with its own seating area, fire pit etc. You’ll be hard pressed to remember it’s even there! The smaller yurt accommodates four more guests, and is available if you would like to have a larger group come to stay. Exclusive use of the whole site is possible if you want complete privacy. In keeping with the ethos of our home, we have tried to use reclaimed/recycled/up cycled materials wherever possible.
There are standard electrical sockets in the yurt including USB charging points and low energy lighting there and in the bathroom/kitchen which all run off renewable energy sources. So by staying in Ty Crwn Mawr you will be doing your bit to reduce pollution and carbon emissions.

The club was established by people with a passion for sustainable, eco-friendly camping holidays. Membership costs just £10 for the calendar year and provides access to some of the greenest campsites in the UK. It also includes participation in the Club's 'Trees for Life' scheme, whereby a tree is planted for every Member we enrol. When you book, we will automatically enroll you as a member of the Greener Camping Club. The cost of this non-optional membership will be covered in the booking charges as the 'GCC Membership Fee'. If you are already a GCC member then please let us know after booking and we will refund the £10 membership charge after you check out. When booking you agree to provide us with your full name and email address in order that we can enroll you as a GCC member. We’ll issue your membership e-card by email before you check-in. If you do not provide your full name and email address within 48 hours of booking and at least 7 days before check-in, then we reserve the right to refuse you entry to the campsite with no refund. Completely renovated in August 2018, and situated in the hills above the Holy Loch, our privately owned lodge is on the edge of the holiday park, a twenty minute ferry ride from Gourock. On arrival you will find yourself in an idyllic setting, surrounded by stunning views. It is a traditional build wooden lodge, accessible via two small steps onto the deck straight from the two car parking area. The covered deck to the front has a seating area and a fabulous view out over the Loch.
The lodge is one of a small group located in a beautiful woodland setting .
