The location
Dog and child friendly, The Cabin is situated within the New Forest national park with its fabulous walks and stunning beaches. The quiet and tranquil location provides a luxurious retreat after a long day exploring the sights of the area, from the Witchcraft village of Burley to the cliff-top castle at Highcliffe.
Sitting within the woodland and surrounded by the forest and common land The Cabin provides a rural retreat in which to see the wild horses, pigs, birds, and deer that the New Forest is famous for.
Both Burley and Bransgore villages are within a 10-minute drive and have an abundance of traditional shops and local pubs serving food. The beaches of Highcliffe and Mudeford are also within a 10–15-minute drive and are open to dogs all year round. For the more adventurous, full-day walking tours of the New Forest are just out the gate. Paddleboarding, kitesurfing, sailing and other water sports can be found a little further away at Christchurch, Lymington and Poole.
Of course, you can just stay put and relax and snuggle up on the sofa. We recommend lighting the fire pit outside on a clear night, grabbing some blankets, and raising a glass to the stars.
Getting here
Halfway between the villages of Burley and Bransgore, The Cabin is within half an hour of Bournemouth and Southampton. You will need a car to get around, parking and electric car charging is just outside. Unlike other retreats The Cabin has no neighbours other than the family home – this is the perfect stress-free relaxing getaway.


Located in Christchurch, this cabin is in a rural area. The area's natural beauty can be seen at New Forest National Park and Moors Valley Country Park, while Sammy Miller Museum and Regent Centre are cultural highlights. Our small studio/House has been built to latest standards ensuring warmth and comfort during your stay. We have kept the pod as simple as possible making it ideal for couples and young families. The place has been fitted out with all the comforts of home with brands we all know and trust. The hot tub is here for you to enjoy as you wish, bathrobes and luxury White Company towels will keep you warm afterwards.

40 ins Tv with DVD and Roberts music system will help entertain on those cold dark winter nights when the views have been covered for the day.

The shower room is stocked with everything you will need during your stay with a Mira shower to reinvigorate while your towel is warmed on the electric towel rail.

The kitchen is compact but fully functioning with oven,fridge freezer and 2 ring hob top. The oven can also be used as a microwave. If coffee is your indulgence the Nespresso machine is there and fully stocked for you to sample the different flavours on offer.

For the energetic guests we have 2 adult bikes located at the pod, please bring your own helmets!

With our changeable weather you can decide to eat inside or out with the tables and chairs we have provided. The Weber BBQ is also in situation on the deck when required.

Wireless charging is available along with a docking port for the iPhone with USB plugs available at the bedsides.
Access to the Escape is located by our main drive. This is protected by an electric gate with key code ensuring safety for any little ones who like to wander! If we are not there on your arrival a key safe is located next to the Hot tub.

Carrying on through to one of our Paddocks will bring you to your home for the time you have with us. Served by its own gravel road there is ample parking and turning available.
Although the site of the house is private, we are generally around to answer any questions you may have.

The chic, pastel interiors and elegant furnishings make The Sanctuary the perfect place for the whole group to relax and re-charge. On the ground floor is the main living accommodation which offers plenty of space for socialising, comprising of an open-plan living room, dining space which comfortably seats fourteen as well as the first of the kitchens, which comes fully-equipped with all the tools you could possibly need to create delicious meals. Downstairs on the lower ground floor, guests will find a second sitting room with sofa bed for two and kitchen. Also on this level is the first of the bedrooms, a double with en-suite shower room.

Upstairs on the first floor, are a further three bedrooms, two feature double beds, while the third boasts triple bunk beds and is therefore ideal for children to share. Upstairs on the second and final floor is a fantastic family room for four which features a double bed, additional bunk beds and en-suite bathroom. The remaining two bedrooms on this level comprise of a double and triple bunk bedroom.

Outside guests have access to a small walled terrace which is accessed from the lower ground floor. With seating for eight and a barbecue, it makes the ideal setting for a spot of al fresco dining after action-packed days spent having fun on the beach!

The Sanctuary holds a central position within the popular seaside resort of Bournemouth, set just a 300m walk from the sandy beach and less than a 5-minute stroll from the town centre which is home to a wide variety of well-known shops and excellent restaurants. For those travelling by train, Bournemouth Station is conveniently located less than a 10-minute drive away and there are always plenty of taxis available.

There are a huge number of family-friendly attractions in Bournemouth, on the seafront, younger visitors will enjoy a visit to the Oceanarium while any teenagers or adrenaline junkies will love RockReef Activity Centre with its thrilling zip line over the pier to shore! The whole family will enjoy a competitive round of crazy golf at Smugglers Cove Adventure Golf. Further afield, Paulton’s Park Peppa Pig World is a must-visit for those with smaller children and is less than a 40-minute drive away.

For those wanting to explore the great outdoors, the iconic Jurassic Coastline, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is easily reachable from Bournemouth. Iconic sights such as Old Harry Rocks, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are all less than a 50-minute drive away. Bridport Arts Centre and Bridport Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club and South West Coast Path Section 47 Trailhead. Mapperton Gardens and Abbotsbury Children's Farm are also worth visiting. Take an opportunity to explore the area for outdoor excitement like cycling and other activities like birdwatching.

Inside an open plan living and kitchen area is a cosy nook to relax in front of the wood burning stove or hosting a family meal at the spacious dining table.  The kitchen is well-equipped with induction hob, dishwasher, coffee machine and two single ovens offering everything you need to self-cater in style.  

Up to the first floor the comfortable bedrooms, with bed linen and towels provided, include a king bedroom with en-suite, a twin bedroom, a family bathroom and a great bunk room with a double bottom bunk.  This floor benefits from a property width length balcony, accessed via the bedrooms, a great spot to soak up the lakeside views with a morning coffee.

The property is within reaching distance of fabulous beaches, including the beautiful shingle Ringsted Bay, which at low tide reveals a wide expanse of sand.  It is the perfect beach for quiet and calm surrounded by neighbouring farmlands.   For those who like to get out and explore the stunning countryside, we recommend a visit to Moreton Forest with a range of tree-filled walks amongst the towering conifers.   

A trip to the Smuggler’s Inn, a historic 13th Century pub with unbeatable sea views of the Isle of Portland is an absolute must with an excellent selection of ales to sample and delicious food, the perfect spot for a pitstop after a lovely scenic stroll. If you’re looking to take in the area’s fascinating history then you won’t be disappointed with the thousand-year-old Corfe Castle, a majestic ruin established by William the Conqueror, just a short drive away.   Fans of Thomas Hardy can visit Dorchester’s Dorset Museum which houses the largest Hardy Collection in the world, bequeathed by his wife Florence.  Just thirty minutes away, is the picturesque town of Poole, here you can hop on a ferry and visit neighbouring islands or soak up the sunrays on the near-by golden beaches at Sandbanks and Bournemouth.  A visit to the colourful Lighthouse Arts Centre offers art exhibitions, theatre and film then why not finish off the day with some locally caught fish and chips on the beach.

Other close-by towns which are well worth a visit include the charming county town of Weymouth with its recognisable Georgian seafront and the lively market towns of Bridport and Lyme Regis. The famous Durdle Door, a natural limestone arch, is just a twenty-minute car journey away and is a must-visit while in the area.
