Property type "Camp Ground" or "Cabin" were the nearest options I could find - but this is a traditional Kazakhstan style Yurt [see the photos] and is much more than a tent, yet maybe less than a Cabin {depending on the Cabin of course! :) } this is a 20 foot diameter Yurt .. just over 300 square feet in area .. with a King-Size double bed and two fold-way sofa beds. So it's possible to sleep 6 people in total.
This is a unique off-grid rural location, away from the crowds, 750 ft above sea level on the northern side of Kit Hill with fabulous views over The Tamar Valley - Kit Hill is an AONB {Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty} - with miles of walks right outside the Yurt door, and within easy reach of North and South Cornish/Devon coasts. The Eden Project is less than an hour away [~30 miles] and there are a host of other wonderful places to visit - Max 2 Hrs in any direction can take you to Dartmoor, Bodmin Moor, N & S Coast beaches - endless possibilities!
Mary’s Yurt is a 20ft canvas yurt which has one king size bed with memory foam mattress and 2 double sofa beds accommodating a maximum of six guests. There is a table and chairs for 4, cosy log burner, kitchen area with 2-ring camping stove, sink with hot and cold running water, drinking water, and all the crockery and utensils you’ll need, table and chairs, a small library of books and 12v lighting.
There is also a compost loo with a sink and a bathhouse with shower, sink and luxury corner bath with a fabulous view - all with hot and cold running water! Total off-grid luxury!
The Yurt was made on nearby Bodmin Moor by Tim Hutton of Yurt Works. There’s a little blurb about his original Kyrgyzstan visit to learn the craft on his website. Mary’s Yurt Differs from the traditional Mongolian Yurt in that these roof spars are steam-bent, which provides a little extra headroom inside as the spars go up to the dome. The Mongolian type is a flatter roof pitch because the spars are straight.
When the weather's cold , the wood burner means it’s lovely and warm inside once the burner’s up to temperature, keeping you cozy inside even if it's cold and wet outside … a centrally heated yurt.
Our location is off the beaten track, and very quiet and peaceful – ideal for escaping from the crowds … an oasis of calm, easily reachable by road or we can collect you from the local station (15 minutes away by car)! A unique and tranquil location in which to relax and let your cares evaporate, yet within easy drivable reach of N and S Cornish coastal favourites and all the other inland spots.
