The luxurious timber framed lodges have a galleried roof and wooden oak floors throughout. They have been built on eco friendly principles incorporating flax and recycled newspaper for insulation, plant oil based paints, water conservation and energy saving lighting. Douglas fir cladding has been used on the outside which has been protected with eco friendly paints so that, the lodges  blend into with the woodland environment. The lodges are for adults only (over 18 years).

The lodges are light and airy in the summer and warm and cosy in the winter.

Great Wood is close to the Howardian Hills an area of outstanding natural beauty, The North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Yorkshire coast. Just a few of the attractions include Castle Howard, Yorkshire lavender, North Yorkshire Steam railway, market towns Malton and Pickering, coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. Less than an hour away, to the north of Whitby, Staithes, Sandsend, and picturesque Runswick Bay to the south of Whitby the traditional fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay.
