Within the tranquil setting at Great Wood there are 4 fully equipped self catering lodges, the lodges overlook a lake and are surrounded by 20 acres of deciduous woodland.
The luxurious timber framed lodges have a galleried roof and wooden oak floors throughout. They have been built on eco friendly principles incorporating flax and recycled newspaper for insulation, plant oil based paints, water conservation and energy saving lighting. Douglas fir cladding has been used on the outside which has been protected with eco friendly paints so that, the lodges blend into with the woodland environment. The lodges are for adults only (over 18 years).
The lodges are light and airy in the summer and warm and cosy in the winter.
Great Wood is close to the Howardian Hills an area of outstanding natural beauty, The North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Yorkshire coast. Just a few of the attractions include Castle Howard, Yorkshire lavender, North Yorkshire Steam railway, market towns Malton and Pickering, coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. Less than an hour away, to the north of Whitby, Staithes, Sandsend, and picturesque Runswick Bay to the south of Whitby the traditional fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay.

Bittern Lodge is an attractive log cabin in Tattershall Lakes holiday park and can sleep six people. This all ground floor cottage has two double bedrooms, a twin bedroom, a shower room and an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and a sitting area. Outside there is off road parking for three cars, a private decked patio with hot tub and furniture, a private fishing peg and on-site facilities including water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, golf, coarse fishing (please bring own fishing tackle), indoor heated swimming pool, gym and spa. Bittern Lodge is a wonderful base for your fun-filled holiday.
Lakeside Cabin is a rustic lodge which overlooks a beautiful lake and is set in woodland within the grounds of the owner's trout farm. Set just half a mile from the picturesque hamlet of Sheldon, and seven miles from Honiton, this property can sleep two people. This all ground floor property has a double bedroom, a shower room and an open plan living area with a kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside there is ample off road parking and a covered veranda with furniture, leading to a large lawned area and an unfenced lake just 15 yards away. There is also private trout fishing available in the lake at an extra charge (please contact the owner for more information, there is a 10% reduction for guests). Lakeside Cabin is a wonderful holiday base and is ideal for fans of fishing.
Merrick is a detached lodge situated on a holiday park, two miles from the village of Colvend, near Dalbeattie on Scotland's Solway Coast. This cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms, consisting of one double with TV, en-suite shower and a balcony, a double with a shower in the room and an en-suite basin and WC, and a ground floor zip/link twin, along with a ground floor bathroom. The cottage also has an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and a sitting area. Outside there's off road parking for two cars, a communal lawned area and access to a fishing loch. A delightful lodge with many walks and cycle routes in the area.

At one end of the beach, Northam Burrows Country Park offers a quiet place for a walk amongst the attractive sand dunes. Other places of interest in the area, all within a ten minute drive of the property, include the fishing village of Appledore, the historic harbour town of Bideford and The Big Sheep. This bespoke cedar pod makes for a unique and relaxing place to stay. The stylish cabin with its curved wooden walls is approached by a set of external steps which lead across the decking to the bi fold doors that open straight into the open plan living space. A woodburner keeps the pod lovely and cosy, no matter what the weather, and a sofa nestled against the curved wall provides a great place to sit back and relax whilst enjoying the Smart TV. Contemporary kitchen units running along the back wall provide everything that guests will need, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and a dishwasher.
