Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.
Town: Goonhavern is a small Cornish village just 2.5 miles inland from Perranporth, the setting for Winston Graham's Poldark novels. Goonhavern has an inn, village shop, garden centre, and playground. The community, once known for its tin, still has abandoned pump houses, mine shafts, and workers' cottages. Perranporth has a three-mile-long sandy beach and craggy rocks for rock pooling. In summer, the beach is lifeguarded and hosts the British National Surfing Championships. Perranporth has a small selection of shops, restaurants, and pubs, including The Watering Hole, a beachfront pub with live entertainment, good food, and a stunning sunset view. Blue Hills Museum and Perranzabuloe Folk Museum are both worth visiting to learn about the area's heritage.
Located in Truro, this lodge is in a rural area and near the beach. Lighthouse Cinema and Royal Cornwall Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Lappa Valley Steam Railway and Huer's Hut. Looking to enjoy an event or a game while in town? See what's going on at Mount Wise Stadium, or consider a night out at Gwennap Pit. Fishing offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with hiking/biking trails and cycling nearby.
