Harbour Apartment enjoys a central position in Whitby, overlooking the buzzy harbour. Whitby offers something more than your typical coastal seaside resort. It is famous for its connections to Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Captain Cook and boasts a Gothic culture. Most have now been renovated. The village enjoys a good range of cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as charming, unique shops.

Staithes is also a picture postcard unmissable village, clinging to the hillside and boasting winding cobbled streets, 18th century cottages and characterful pubs. This fabulous coastal village was once one the largest fishing ports in the North East but now it is a wonderful hillside gem perfect for exploring Yorkshire’s cliff top paths and the rock pools on the small sandy beach.

There are many stunning coastal and country walks, cycle paths and 800km of bridleways close to Whitby. You will be amazed at the peaceful and tranquil countryside of the North York Moors National Park.

Founded in 7th Century AD, the famous Whitby Abbey is well worth a visit, known as the place, where Easter’s dates were agreed between Roman and Celtic churches. The ruins and museum display over 3000 years of history and dramatic displays. Fans of the gothic will be thrilled and chilled by the Dracula Experience and Dracula rooms, celebrating the town’s influence on Bram Stoker’s most famous character. The town is host to a twice-yearly Goth Weekend, celebrating the wonderful underworld of Goth subculture.

Visitors that enjoy ancient monuments and castles will be delighted. Hidden deep in the River Rye valley, you will find the beautiful, tranquil and romantic Rievaulx Abbey ruins. Rievaulx was one of the first Cistercian abbeys to be founded in England around 1130. Its picturesque ruins became a beacon for poets, painters and scholars. It was one of the first major ruins to be conserved by the ancestor of English Heritage, the Office of Works in 1917. Today it is a very impressive visitor attraction. Terrace and Temples. The temples are 18th century, one of which is the splendid Ionic Temple with intricate ceiling paintings. The views from the terrace are stunning.

In the opposite direction you will find Castle Howard. One of the great palaces of Europe, Castle Howard is a place like no other. Generations of the Howard family have welcomed visitors for over 300 years. You can visit the palace itself or enjoy the lakes, the woodland walk, the walled garden, the tea rooms, the playground and the temples and monuments. There is a lot on offer!

Why not take a trip to Pickering to take a trip on the steam train? Pickering Station is a must-see 1930’s themed station that will transport you back in time to the steam era. The town holds a traditional market every Monday and boasts the Beck Isle Museum, a 13th century castle originally built by William the Conqueror and its beautiful Church of St Peter and St Paul where you can see some magnificent 15th century wall paintings.

Outside Holly Lodge
Outside Holly Lodge, there is expansive enclosed decking for you to enjoy some outdoor entertainment. You can take a relaxing soak in the private hot tub under the stars, or relax on the outdoor furniture watching out for the local wildlife. If you get hungry, you can fire up the charcoal BBQ and throw on a burger to make the most of the surroundings with some al fresco dining.

We know how much fun it is to bring your dog on holiday with you, and with miles of stunning Yorkshire countryside on our doorstep, Holly Lodge is the perfect place for a dog friendly short break. Dogs are charged £8.00 per night per dog. We provide bowls for your dog during your stay, and also some treats. Town: A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast. There is still an RNLI lifeboat station in Staithes, along with a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster.
