The main living quarters are delightfully open-plan, with a huge sofa and armchairs to one side, a lovely casual dining area to another, and the magnificent kitchen to the other! A large set of French doors provides a stunning view over the water and the natural landscape all around you, as well as flooding the interiors with a warm glow of light.
The kitchen is bright and modern and infinitely spacious, with a full array of fantastic facilities built-in, as well as an awesome breakfast bar for casual meals and snacks. There’s a second, more casual living area in front of a fabulous wood-burner and TV, where you can settle for a little calm relaxation. If its entertainment you’re after, head to the games room for a round of table tennis!
There are four sumptuous bedrooms in total, two doubles and two twin rooms. Each is warm, bright and cosy, with seating areas and plush furnishings. The undeniable master suite enjoys a full wall of windows overlooking the stunning river outside, as well as a large bathtub which looks out over the room and a separate walk-in rain-shower! The second double room has terrace access, so you can wake up and step straight into the sunshine as you enjoy the sun dazzling over the sea in front of you! There are four fabulous bathrooms to accompany the four bedrooms, and all are spacious, elegant and equipped with fabulous facilities.
And finally, step out onto your incredible sea-front terrace, complete with a fabulous alfresco table! Enjoy a casual drink as you admire the magnificent views across the river and the golden sands of the beach below. This beautifully remote location makes it ideal for a little star gazing by night and watching the world sail by in the day time.
Just a short walk away you’ll find the wonderful town of Porthmadog, brimming with shops, pubs and restaurants and a quaint marina. Take a ride on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railways, watch the rare and migrating sea birds along the estuaries or get in a round of golf at Porthmadog Golf Club less than 2 miles away. With the delights of Snowdonia and The Lleyn Peninsula on your doorstep, vast mountains and glistening beach alike await you!
In this region of Wales, you’ll find its first national park: the Snowdonia National Park. 823 square miles of towering mountains and shimmering lakes, it can be seen as far away as Porthmadog on the west coast! Snowdon itself is an icon of Wales, alongside 13 other majestic peaks over 3,000 feet high, ideal for climbing and hiking! But if you’re not as fit as you used to be, worry not – the chilly peak of Snowdon is even accessible by train, so you can enjoy the breath-taking views whatever your level!
The town of Llanberis, at the foot of Snowdon, offers all sorts of quaint shops and eateries like the Llanberis Art & Craft and Coffee Pot and fascinating attractions. There are water sports, climbing and cycling activities, as well as Llanberis Lake Railway, the National Slate Museum and the Electric Mountain Visitor Centre, one of the largest Hydro-Electric power stations inside a mountain!

With water to the north, south and east, Wales has rather more than its fair share of dramatic coastline, making for not only incredible scenery but also a superb beach holiday destination! The Pembrokeshire Peninsula which looks out over the Irish Sea promises rugged and steep limestone cliffs best enjoyed from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Trail. Along the way, you will find enchanting villages, picturesque resort areas, idyllic fishing harbours, winding estuaries, and incredible, wide-open beaches
The Wales Coast Path traces the country's entire length, taking in perfect sandcastle-beaches and striking mountain passes weaving through the wilderness. The immense geological diversity can be enjoyed along with the extensive network of paths, while for some jaw-dropping architectural beauty, Caernarfon Castle and Caerphilly Castle are just two of the many sublime castles. While the utterly cosmopolitan Cardiff is brimming with splendid castles, arcades, and historical buildings, making it the perfect base for exploring the rest of the country!
Only two hours from London, getting into Wales is easy! Cardiff Airport, or one of the London airports when visiting South Wales. Other cities served by international airports in England which offer reasonable access to parts of Wales include Bristol (for south Wales), Birmingham (for mid-Wales), Liverpool and Manchester (for north Wales). Along the coastlines the roads are excellent, and there is an extensive train service throughout the country.

In addition, two of the rooms feature their own sink areas.
And finally, step outside into your enchanting private garden and enjoy total serenity! The landscaped gardens are dazzling, with a huge lawn for the children to play on, a barbecue on the terrace for unforgettable alfresco days and a fabulous terrace with lake views that will simply take your breath away!
A gentle stroll north of the river will bring you to the lakeside town of Ambleside where you’ll find tons of charming shops, restaurants and cafes. Hop on a lake cruise at Waterhead Pier for a fresh look at the lake, and head over to the other shoreside villages. For those looking to get out and about on land in this breath-taking countryside, walks of all kinds, including the iconic Fairfield Horseshoe walk which goes past the front door, can be enjoyed literally from the doorstep. As well as mountain bike routes to suit all levels!
Overlooking the sublime Lake Windermere and only minutes from Windermere, Bowness Bay and Ambleside, Waterhead House is located in one of the most desirable parts of the Lake District.
Less than a mile north you will find the thriving town of Ambleside, while travelling south you’ll find Windermere village and the slightly larger town of Bowness-on-Windermere, which offer endless quaint cafes, traditional pubs, fantastic restaurants, outdoors shops and large supermarkets, as well as the flagship store for Lakeland to make the most of, as well as an Information Centre! A lake cruise from just outside your front door will take you down to this end of the lake with ease, and you can enjoy the fabulous views along the way!
Windermere is England's largest lake, at 10.5 miles long and 219 feet at its deepest point! And unsurprisingly is one of the most famous and popular areas in the whole of the Lake District, with unrivalled hiking, cycling and water-sports on offer, not to mention attractions including crazy golf, climbing, hot air ballooning and orienteering!
Something of a mecca for cyclists, walkers and water-sports enthusiasts, the landscapes awaiting you have to be seen to be believed! Leave the car behind and lose yourself in the fresh air! For the true adventurers, unbeatable skiing, climbing and mountain-biking can be found throughout the Park, while more relaxing pursuits including boat hire and golf can be found a stone’s throw away.
Nearby attractions including the Lakes Aquarium, with the UK's largest collection of freshwater fish, the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, where you can enjoy a 3.5-mile steam locomotive trip into the Leven Valley and the delightful World of Beatrix Potter, where the fabulous animals of Beatrix Potter's tales are brought to life in three dimensions! All make for a great day out for all ages and can easily be combined for those short on time thanks to their proximity.
The Lake District is England's largest National Park, with more than 3100km of rights of way, you can walk, cycle and ride yourself silly through this enchanting valley as you marvel at some of the world’s best scenery! Adventure courses, boat hire, all kinds of water-sports and much more ensure you can take the Lakes at your own pace, be that racing down the mountains on a bike, fell-running up them or gliding through them on a Launch, the possibilities are endless!
Carlisle, Leeds and Newcastle airports are all within a 2-hour drive or thereabouts, and there are train stations dotted throughout the National Park, so accessing the house on public transport is certainly possible. The average journey time from London and the south-east is about five hours, while it’s about one and a half hours from Manchester and two hours from York.

Mundesley is a small, largely undiscovered, pretty Victorian seaside village located on the North Norfolk coast. It has an award winning beach, excellent village facilities and beautiful surrounding countryside for summer and winter walks. The house is just a 1 minute walk from the beach and 5 minutes walk from the pretty village centre. The village has everything needed: a good butcher, wet fish stand, general store, vegetable shop, chemist, excellent chip shop, art gallery and numerous pubs all within walking distance.

Berry Wood Barn offers fantastic living space, six gorgeous bedrooms and three bathrooms. You will quickly see that this is a much loved home with charming family paintings and photographs scattered around. You will feel extremely welcome and know that this is a happy house with magical memories. With the two barns being connected some of the rooms are on slightly different levels. From the front door, a stone stairway leads to a cosy den with a television, DVD player and Sky sports channels, the perfect spot for children to chill out after a long afternoon walking in the Black Mountains. Just a few steps up from this gorgeous, beautifully furnished space is the drawing room with its shelves full of books, its roaring open fire on chilly days and its numerous armchairs and its comfy sofa. It is a delightful room with cheery upholstery, just like the floral fabrics of the snug. The open plan country kitchen and dining room is just a few steps down from the drawing room together with a fabulous conservatory. The dining area offers a lovely French vintage table and chairs seating the whole group, an impressive oversized mirror and doors which open to the terrace and garden. The kitchen boasts a Lacanche electric range cooker, butler’s sink and other excellent appliances for your self catering stay. It is such a sociable room with guests easily being able to keep the chefs in the group company. Just outside is a beautiful oak table and gorgeous rattan chairs together with a barbecue for alfresco dining. The conservatory is just fabulous. With wallpaper and fabrics inspired by nature, this living space makes you smile and feel like you are in the garden. The sumptuous corner sofa is adorned with brightly coloured scattered cushions, sitting in front of a log burning stove. It is such a lovely bright spot all year round.
The barn offers six bedrooms, all beautifully finished. Two double bedrooms are located on one side of the property with doors opening to the garden. They both offer flexible sleeping arrangements with super king-size beds which can be converted to twins. Guests staying in these two rooms have use of a stunning bathroom with a roll top bath and a shower. On the next level, the master bedroom sits in all its finery with its lavish super king-size bed and ensuite bathroom. Like all of the beds, the master is dressed with crisp cottons and gorgeous soft furnishings. Adjoining the master is a delightful single bedroom ideal for a child. The walls are decorated with cute artwork and memories. A further flight of stairs leads to the final two bedrooms, both enjoying charming sloping ceilings and superbly comfy super king-size beds which can be converted to twins. Here there is another beautiful family bathroom with another roll top bath and separate shower. Every room enjoys a fabulous colour scheme, handmade curtains or blinds, one-of-a-kind handpicked vintage furnishings and beautiful paintings, all in keeping with this stunning rural setting.
Berry Wood Barn is simply gorgeous. This Monmouthshire country retreat may not have the best internet, the mobile signal may be patchy, you may well get a little muddy outside when it is wet, it may not have the most powerful of showers and you do need to drive up a long, bumpy and sometimes muddy track to get to it but this house has a heart and you will definitely want to return.
Berry Wood Barn enjoys an incredible rural position with spectacular views of the Black Mountains and the surrounding rolling hills. It sits on the border between England and Wales, perched high on the Hatterall Ridge in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The barn sits close to Abergavenny and the famous Offa’s Dyke. Guests enjoy walking and mountain bike trails from the barn and can be in the Cathedral cities of Brecon and Hereford within thirty minutes. The Llantony valley where the barn is positioned is just glorious. You can stand at the kitchen window looking towards the valley sweeping away towards Hay on Wye.
In the shadow of Sugar Loaf Mountain, Abergavenny is a wonderful blend of old and new. With fresh mountain air and the beautiful scenery of the Usk valley, it offers an excellent range of shops, restaurants and cafes, a museum, a ruined Norman castle, a colourful market, all with a dramatic backdrop. This south east corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park is a fabulous base for walking, cycling and enjoying the great outdoors. Its annual Abergavenny Food Festival is fantastic. This market town boasts a rich history and heritage. Visitors enjoy exloring the area’s castles, medieval mansions, Roman remains and standing stones. The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal is on the doorstep and the Blaenavon World Heritage and Big Pit Mine are just up the road. The Abergavenny Museum is set within the grounds of the castle, an ideal spot for a picnic or a walk. The museum building was formerly a hunting lodge built by the Marquess of Abergavenny.
The area is certainly fit for foodies. Visitors enjoy the very best of Welsh cuisine at the superb, Michelin starred Walnut Tree Inn and The Hardwick Restaurant. There are many other fantastic restaurants and gastropubs including The Bell at Skenfrith or The Skirrid Inn. Guests staying at Berry Wood Farm can take a walk down the hill to The Queen’s Head, another delight.
Horse lovers can enjoy treks through the mountains and the Llanthony Valley. There are a number of good pony trekking centres including one at Llanthony Abbey where you can book a half day or full day ride. History fans can tour the castles including Grosmont, Skenfrith and White Castles. Raglan Castle, once home to a young Henry VII is very close to the barn.
Another Welsh treasure is Dan-Yr-Ogof, the award-winning National Showcaves Centre for Wales. Visitors can explore the twisting passageways, the great caverns and underground waterfalls, coming face-to-face with over 250 life-sized dinosaur models. It is a wonderful family day out that can be combined with the Shire Horse Centre and Farm.
Other popular excursions including kayaking and canoeing in the rivers, shooting, hang gliding and bird watching. If you fancy a day by the sea, you can head to the beautiful Swansea Bay coastline and the Gower Peninsula with its gorgeous coves and glorious stretches of fine sand. The Victorian seaside village of Mumbles with its promenade, shops and restaurants is worth a visit. Mumbles was one of Dylan Thomas’ many stamping grounds and is the home of some world class ice cream. Mumbles is steeped in history with its lighthouse being built in 1794. It also boasts a Victorian pier and Oystermouth Castle which sits on the hilltop overlooking the sea. There are lovely boutique shops and galleries including the gorgeous Lovespoon Gallery and the Gower Gallery. No visit to Mumbles would be complete without sampling some ‘fresh off the boat’ seafood, its handmade chocolates and its fantastic ice creams.
Logan Manor makes a wonderful home for those wanting to enjoy a relaxed Scottish break, in easy reaching distance of Edinburgh and fantastic attractions and amenities. Set in the village of Dalkeith, within three and a half acres of private gardens, it offers complete peace and quiet. When listening to the soothing sounds of the River Esk, which runs through the property, it will be hard to believe you are just a short car journey away from the buzzing capital city.
Originally dating back to 1703, the Manor has been lovingly modernised in recent years by its current owners who have managed to seamlessly blend its original charm and character with updated interiors and contemporary facilities. Logan Manor can comfortably accommodate up to ten guests across five beautifully appointed bedrooms, each of which boasting its very own en-suite bathroom.

Finally, on the third floor are the remaining two bedrooms, a super-king room, and a twin room, which again on request can be set up as a super-king room, both of which boast an en-suite shower room.
Outside, the gardens are a real oasis, there is no better way to end a day than to enjoy a soak in the hydro pool swim spa. On a warm evening, the whole gang will enjoy gathering together on the terrace for a yummy barbecue al fresco!
Logan Manor is situated in the historic town of Dalkeith, just a twenty-five-minute car journey from the city of Edinburgh, with its fabulous attractions and famous sights. Alternatively, should you wish to leave the car at home you can choose to take the train into Edinburgh from the near-by station, reaching the city takes just fifteen minutes. Edinburgh Airport is conveniently located just twenty minutes away, making this the perfect home for a reunion of international friends.
Helpful amenities such as shops and restaurants can be found in the centre of Dalkeith, just a five-minute walk from the Manor. Fort Douglas set within Dalkeith Country Park, is just a five-minute car journey away, makes a fantastic place for the whole family to spend an afternoon with its beautiful walks, excellent restaurant, café and adventure playground. Less than a 10-minute car journey away is the Edinburgh Butterfly & Insect World, here the children are bound to enjoy getting up close to creepy crawlies, fascinating reptiles and beautiful butterflies.
For keen golfers, there are excellent courses in the surrounding area, including Duddingston, Muirfield, Gullane and North Berwick. Arguably the most famous of all, St Andrews, is just an 90-mninute car journey from the home.
Woodhill Beach House is fabulously nestled on the banks of the River Severn estuary and as a result makes the perfect base for those wishing to escape reality, relax and unwind in style. Due to its much desired location it boasts uninterrupted panoramic views of the estuary, perfect for wildlife lovers! The property has been fashioned in form of a French inspired chic beach house and comes complete with all the necessary modern amenities for a more than comfortably stay.
As you enter the house you will instantly notice the lift, this allows easy access to the basement level and first floor. This is a really fantastic addition, particularly for those who have mobility issues or problems with staircases. The first floor is incredibly spacious and is comprised of an open plan dining area and fully equipped kitchen. The living room is the perfect spot to curl up in one of the comfy arm chairs with a good book while enjoying lookng out over the tranquil surroundings and river. The lovely dining room, bright and light due to the beautiful skylight it makes a lovely room for the family to gather together and enjoy a nice meal.
On the first floor two bedrooms can be found. Guests are bound to be arguing over who gets to stay in the wonderful master en-suite bedroom, complete with king-sized bed. Fabulous views of the Estuary and horizon can be enjoyed from the many windows and french doors and even from the comfort of the luxurious bathtub! The second en-suite double bedroom on this level boasts equally impressive views.
Three bedrooms are situated in the upper floor. Two of the double bedrooms are larger in size with access to private washrooms. The smaller of the double bedrooms has nautical themed porthole windows and an en-suite bathroom. Heading back downstairs to the basement, you will find the snug area, perfect for a cosy movie night. On this floor, a further en-suite double bedroom can also be found. Adjoined to this bedroom is a small living space, with a working fireplace, with further access to the garden.
The town of Portishead is just off the coast of the Severn Estuary, Somerset. Due to its proximity and its tributary, Portishead has a rich history as a port and docking yard. There are still exquisite examples of Town’s fine history of Victorian Gothic architecture and plenty of popular trails for keen hikers to explore. Being surrounded by the stunning countryside of Somerset, holiday makers love to visit the likes of Gordano Valley Nature Reserve, Battery Point and The Clevedon Coast Path; where Wales is visible on clear days.

For over fifty years, on the final Sunday in June, the village has opened many of its gardens to the public to raise funds for Chelsworth’s Grade I listed church. If you happen to be there then, you will be in for a treat! In 1967 admission to the five open gardens was half a crown and a total of £150 raised through entrance, plant sales and teas. Now it raises thousands and visitors enjoy artisan crafts, teas and buying plants. The setting is picture-book English.
Not far from Chelsworth, deep in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, you will find the charming village of Lavenham. Mawgan Porth has a lovely sandy beach in a cove with a little stream running though which is great for the little ones. The iconic pier was refurbished and blends in perfectly. It is lined with shops, eateries and amusements. Southwold lies between the pretty resort of Aldeburgh and the busy town of Lowestoft on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Southwold is almost an island, being bounded by the North Sea to the East, by the River Blyth and Southwold Harbour to the South West and by Buss Creek to the North. There is only one road in and out of the town which adds to its magic. Southwold is home to the famous Adnams Brewery with its brewing rooms set just behind the High Street, adjacent to the town’s iconic lighthouse. Adnams offer brewery tours throughout the year and you can sample the tasty pints everywhere. The Coastal Voyage is one of the most popular trips. At high speed, your boat is put through formidable paces in a 30 minute tour where you will see marsh harriers, herons, gulls and possibly osprey.
There are some wonderful walks that you can take straight from Southwold Beach House. You can cross the River Blyth to Walberswick, exploring the trackbed of the old Southwold Railway and returning on the little ferry if you want a change for the return. Over a thousand acres of heath and marshland around Walberswick are protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walberswick offers tea rooms, restaurants, two pubs, an art gallery, village shops and some charming craft and gift shops. Fresh fish can be bought from the harbour huts and crabbing is very popular for children by the harbour. Walberswick used to host the annual British Open Crabbing Championship, raising funds for good causes.
Aldeburgh is enchanting. It’s famous resident, Benjamin Britten, the founder of the June Aldeburgh Festival, is celebrated throughout the town. There is a wonderful sculpture on the beach. Aldeburgh is very pretty with pastel coloured 19th century homes lining the promenade, a wonderful pebble beach and fisherman’s huts selling the local daily catch.
If you are on holiday between July and September, you may want to visit the Dunwich Heath Coastal Centre and Beach. It is quietly tucked away, offering tranquility and a true sense of being at one with nature. The heath is alive with colour during the summer months, a patchwork of pink and purple heather and coconut scented yellow gorse. It is a rare and precious habitat for dartford warblers, nightjars, woodlarks, adders and much more.
